twelve: a 3" cdr series
tar1201-1203 | tar1204-1206 | tar1207-tar1209 | tar1210-1212
twelve explores the notes of the chromatic scale in detail. each
single in the series features one 5 to 12 minute composition
that exclusively employs one note (in octaves). there are no other
stylistic requirements or limitations; other non-tonal sound sources,
such as percussion and field recordings, may be used.
the goal of twelve is to explore individual notes fully within each
compostion, and to examine tonal relationships between the pieces.
the series will be released in the order of schoenberg's first
twelve-tone row, in order to structure the scale in a compelling way.
we also hope this draws a parallel between schoenberg's vision of
non-functional harmony and the static, non-functional nature of
contemporary drone music.
a new installment will be released every month. each composition will
be issued as a very limited run of 3" CDRs featuring handmade artwork.
the artwork from each release will fit together to form a larger
work. after the final installment, all of the pieces will be released
together on 2 discs, featuring new artwork and re-interpretations.
subscriptions may be purchased at any time. we'll send you all of the discs up to
when you subscribe, and you will be the first
to receive a new release every month. you'll also get a discount on the final
compilation of the series.
